Content Groups

Content Groups are containers for organizing related content elements. Think of them as named collections of content that you can reference throughout your site.

What is a Content Group?

A Content Group is a named container for managing pieces of content that appear on your website. Think of it as a labeled box that holds related text and images for a specific part of your site.

For example, you might have:

  • "Homepage Hero": Contains the headline, subtitle, and call-to-action text that visitors see when they first land on your site.
  • "Footer": Holds your contact information, address, and social media links displayed at the bottom of every page.
  • "About Page": Contains the team description, mission statement, and company photo for your About page.

Content Groups let you update the text and images on your site without needing a developer. Your developer sets up where each group's content appears, and you control what that content says.

Creating a Content Group

01

Open Content Groups

In the admin panel, click Content Groups in the sidebar.

02

Click "New Group"

Click the New Group button to start.

03

Give it a descriptive name

Enter a name that clearly describes what this group is for -- for example, "Hero Section," "About Page," or "Pricing Features." The name must be unique so you can easily find it later.

04

Add Content Elements

Once the group is created, you can start adding Content Elements to it -- the individual pieces of text and images that make up this section of your site.

Tip

Use clear, descriptive names for your Content Groups. Names like "Homepage Hero" or "Footer Contact Info" make it easy to find the right group when you need to make an update.

Managing Elements

Inside each Content Group, you manage the individual pieces of content called Content Elements. Each element has a name (like "headline" or "description") and holds either text or an image.

Here is what you can do with elements inside a group:

  • Add new elements: Click "New Element" to create a new text or image element within the group. Give it a name that describes its purpose.
  • Edit content: Click on any element to update its text or replace its image. Changes are saved when you click save.
  • Reorder elements: Elements are displayed by their position. You can change the order so the most important pieces appear first.
  • Remove elements: Delete elements you no longer need. Note that some elements may be marked as "required" -- these cannot be deleted because they are essential to your site's layout.

Note

If a Content Group contains any required elements, the group itself cannot be deleted. This safeguard prevents important content from being accidentally removed from your site.

Using Content Groups in Your Site

Once your Content Groups are set up, here is how the workflow works in practice:

Your developer places references to specific Content Groups and their elements in the pages of your site. For example, the homepage might pull the headline and subtitle from a Content Group called "Homepage Hero." The footer might display the phone number and address from a "Footer" group.

When you edit an element's content in the admin and save, the change appears on the live site. There is no extra step to "deploy" or "push" your changes -- what you save is what visitors see.

Tip

If inline editing is enabled on your site, you can even edit text directly on the page itself -- right-click on a piece of content to open the editor without leaving the page. This makes quick updates especially convenient.
